Echizen Pottery Industry Cooperative Association Senior General Manager
Echizen ware has a long history dating back to the Heian period.
Each generation of potters since then has made the effort to pass on the traditions of Echizen ware to their successors.
The role of the Echizen ware Cooperative Association is to broaden the appeal of Echizen ware and bring it to the notice of a wider audience. We need to protect this heritage for future generations, and yet modernize into a successful industry.
The members of the association have entered into joint ventures for the development of Echizen ware. We hope for your support for Echizen ware.
Echizen Pottery Industry Cooperative Association
Echizen ware Cooperative Association was derived from Echizen ware Promotion Association in 1968, with the purpose of the technical improvement of Fukui potteries and market expansion of Echizen ware products.
In the following year, Echizen ware Pottery Village was built by Fukui Prefecture. The 1st Cooperative Clay Distribution Facility Plan was made in Echizen ware Promotion Association meeting. Echizen ware Cooperative Association was established on June 25, 1971.
In December 1971, the elutriation plant that was planned by Echizen ware Promotion Association was completed to supply potter’s clay on a regular basis to potteries.
Echizen ware Cooperative Association owns a clay plant, a shop of an area of 250 m2 in Echizen Pottery Village, a storehouse of an area of 230 m2, and an office of an area of 100 m2 at present. The joint business is operated with the purpose of the promotion of Echizen ware production sites and activation of member companies.
