Sangetsu Kiln
Noriyuki Murata
I make most of my works using a kicking potter’s wheel (Keri-rokuro). The works are deformed or the shaped ones are cut open to make them flat. I always think that the way the clay is stretched and opened to form a dish is similar to a plant growing from the ground. In the same way as potters in the past, I make pottery in a short time without hesitation. Usability is created by practice. New forms are created through many missteps. I want to make pottery that casts the user’s mind back.
