He says, "The point of origin of pottery is the clay" and "The clay decides what it wants to become, and the craftsman follows the clay." He has a firm belief in clay.
He thinks that the local clay creates a new tradition. He creates clay, works, and the tradition of Echizen ware.
Biography
- 1963
Started pottery art and studied under Sho Kato in Seto
- 1970
Studied under Fan Jonne in Korea as a trainee of Fukui Prefectural pottery experimental labo
- 1972
Built Tsubaki Kiln at Echizen-cho (former Ota-cho), Fukui Prefecture
- 1977
His works are permanently kept in Ewha University and Kookmin University in Korea
- 1997
Received the Fukui Prefecture Traditional Crafts Superior Inheritor Award
